I grew up in the Allegheny mountains of Pennsylvania and the Adirondacks of upstate New York, where nature was never more than a step away out the door.   Fall leaves braying in the wind, soft noises during snowfall, purple peaks at dawn…  Places create emotion and have always been inextricably linked to awe and inspiration for me.  A photograph can never fully capture the immersion of a place, but what it can do is reconfigure its parts into an object of parallel beauty, which hopefully in turn evokes its own sense of wonder and spirit in the viewer.
